Default Help replacing the starter motor

Recently my starter gave up: typical symptons of a. dying starter getting weak and working intermitently. Battery (load tested), cables and connections all check ok. At some point, the starter was completely dead and by lightly hitting the starter itself with a hammer made it work again: this is the telltale sign of a bad starter

I am found it unusually difficult to remove the old starter: it is a very tight space and one can not even find all the bolts holding the starter in place. I read somewhere that in order to remove the starter one would need to also remove the vacuum brake boosters pump out of the way, and there is something in the way of the removing the starter which has lines/hoses (maybe vacuum lines) coming towards it so it may be the brake booster pump. There is a bracket for the vacuum brake booster pump, but I could not find any info or diagram on how to approach its removal in a safe and sound way.

Below is a pic of the starter in place, it is rather tight spot and I could only identify one bolt for removal. I assume that the starter is held in place by at least two bolts (there is a long elongated thinner bolt, but it is access is obstructed).

Any help would be appreciated.

Get a service manual is the only way I would touch my engine. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it!

I have a haynes manual for the Chevy Equinox whose guts are the same as the GMC Terrain. It should be a very simple and straightforward procedure (have done that several times in other vehicles). The guidance from the aforementioned manual says that in order to remove the starter one would need to take the braker vacuum pump out the of way, and to remove it should be a matter of removing three bolts but the third bolt is impossible to reach from under... this manual is very much lacking on how to perform what is a very simple operation as far as you can manage to fit your hand and a wrench there.

thks
