Default rack-mounted elec power steering 2.4L -VS- hydraulic power rack-and-pinion 3.0L

I was just wonder, about the steering selections, i never really gave this a thought till i was driving my car last night. I haven't driven a car with an electric steering assist car. Most cars on the market are a rack and pinion type system, but based on the size of the car with a v6 and 3.0L will the rack and pinon system hold up against heavy driving loads.

Or will the electric steering assist, take a burden off the car and make it far easier on driving. I would assume from people talking about electric steering is too light, but based that this is an cross over platform it might be jsut right, and not feel too heavy or too light, if anyone else has driven with electric steering assist would be great to hear your input.

They are putting the electric assist on the 4 cylinder because it draws less power and is lighter than the hydraulic unit. The electric unit is more expensive. It feels different while driving but I like the response. Porsche is now using electric units on its cars.
