Cruse control stopped working suddenly will on long trip.

The problem sounds like it could be in the brake light switch. The cruise control uses that switch as its “cancel cruise”. Checking to see if the brake lights are still functioning isn’t a “fail proof” diagnosis, because the switch can malfunction with the cruise control and still function properly with your brake lights. But both systems use the same switch. Hope this helps.
