Hi Guys,

I got a 2013 Terrain SLE 46,000 miles. Last weekend i took it in to Pepboys to have them replace my right front lower control arm (it was going out), making noises when going over speed bumps and turning. After the install the noise went away, but a new one appeared. Now every time i'm taking off from a stop or braking to a stop my front suspension is making a popping noise (like pop-pop).

Two things i recall is watching them remove the wheel hub just to replace the control arm which i know is not necessary at all. Also second thing is while the car was lifted in the air, they tightened and torqued all the bushings/bolts without the suspension being loaded and once done they lowered the car and pulled it out?

Could the popping noise be related to them not torquing everything under load? or possibly them screwing something around the wheel hub? I've driven about 200 miles since they replaced it.

thanks for any input guys.

Hey Street...

I'm not a big fan of PepBoys mechanics....I wish you'd post where you're from too..

But those shops have some real dimwits for mechanics. You may need to take it to a certified Suspension place or the dealer..the Popping ain't right and could be dangerous..

Let us know what you do/did with it.

I'm in Vegas. Just got off the phone with Pepboys, and they said to bring it in and they'll look at it. It's safe to say after this I wont be taking it to them for any other installs in the future.

it just got me concerned how the whole install went down, even while the guy was working on it, i came into the bay, approached him and said "oh you're doing it like that?" before he replied with you can't be in here. After that i stepped outside but kept my eyes on them. He tightened all the bushings/bolts while the car was lifted lowered it down and drove out. I did have the alignment done as well.
