First post - I am in Cheyenne, WY and I bought my first Terrain this week. I had a 2017 Buick Encore and found it too small, especially with the rear seats folded down. My flash drive with only about 20 songs did play in the Encore without an issue. However, when I plug the same flash drive into either flash drive outlet in the Terrain, I get an "UNREADABLE DEVICE" message. The flash drive is a SanDisk Cruzer Blade 32 GB device, if that makes a difference. Any ideas? Thank you.

Are your songs in MP3 format?
Not sure. Songs were from CD's loaded to my computer and then loaded on to flash drives. The odd thing is that the flash drive worked on my 2017 Buick Encore as recently as Monday, the day I traded it in for my 2018 Terrain. I will read the owners manual tonight and see if I'm missing something. If not...it's off to the GMC dealer's service dept. (same as the Buick service dept.).

I'll bet you will learn that when you transfer to the Flash drive that when you rip each song, it must be formatted in the MP3 format.
I went to the GMC dealer, the tech read the Infotainment System manual and tried a few things without success. My wife (has more patience than me) converted my WMA formatted flash drive to MP3 format. Still no success. The manual says the following should play: FLAC, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, and 3GPP. I have no idea what these terms are. On Monday I will visit the dealer to see if my flash drive works in another 2018 Terrain. Perhaps the system is at fault and I need a new unit installed in the dash. Cassettes and CD's were so easy to work. Oh well, that's progress.

Okay I see..that list of playback formats is typical. I thought maybe you just copied and pasted files to your thumb drive..So yeah, sounds like you have a connectivity issue.

Let us know what they figure out.:)

At the GMC dealer today and I tried the flash-drive in another 2018 Terrain. It didn't work in that Terrain either. I spoke to the Service Manager and showed him the page from the owners manual. According to the manual, the flash-drive should work in my Terrain. Awaiting answer from the Service Manager, who will speak to their expert.

Success

Flash drive now works. My wife, with a lot more patience than I have, worked for hours attempting to download my songs to a flash-drive from hers and my computer. After a couple of days and still a failure to get the flash-drive to play, she told me to go back to the GMC dealer and insist they call GMC and get a fix. The dealer got their top tech, a salesman, who is also a computer whiz. He found the problem. First you hit "MORE" from the menu on the left side of the screen. Then you hit "MP3" on the choices. I was hitting "USB" and if I recall "MP3" was not on the menu until "MORE" was hit. Now "MP3" is on the screen when I first go to "MEDIA". Everything is good and I stopped at the car wash on my way home to get the Terrain clean before the forecasted snow this week-end. ;)
