RE: Clicking sound under the hood, posted 4/26
If there is anyone out there that owns a 2012 Terrain with the EcoTech four, I would really appreciate it if you could just take about five minutes and duplicate the test I explained in my post titled "Unknown clicking sound under the hood", that I posted on 4/26 (I believe that's the correct date). With the engine and ignition off, transmission in Park, key removed, and the car in a quiet location, hood open, and your ear down close to where the dip stick is located, have someone open any door, and in several seconds (around 15 to 20 or so) you should be able to hear, first a high-pitched "hum" followed by the "clicking" sound which lasts about 4/6 seconds. Now have that person close the door, and you'll hear the same thing again in several seconds. Also, if you'll place your hand on the front of the transmission cover where the electrical connector is, you will also be able to feel the "clicks". Let me know what you find out. If this "clicking" is heard on other Terrains, I'll consider it "normal". However, I would REALLY like to know what is causing it. If I ever find out, I'll be sure to inform my dealer!!!!
Thanks for your help!!!
