Personally..and from years of experience..It is better for longer engine life to use Synthetic...I know of several brands that have the Dexos spec, so as long as you get that along with the correct weight (5w30)..You will meet or exceed the manufacture's recommendations.

I use Castrol (dexos) Edge synthetic (5w30)..I changed after the first 1000 miles...Then every 5000 miles thereafter/With a WIX/XP brand filter.

Hi everyone,

I am at the 10% Oil remaining point and have driven about 3200 miles since last Oil change and it will be MY first time. Last done was in late August with synthetic 5w-30 when I bought the car. How long can I go before risking damage to my engine? It is a V6.

Also, does any one know what the Manufacture recommends? I don't want to void my extended warranty I purchased when i bought the car.

I planned on just doing the oil change at the dealer and at the same time have them check the transmission fluid level too. I am at times feeling it shift hard usually in low gear but not always, so maybe have them check that out too - could it be needing a shift adaption procedure?

Thanks much for any responses!

The Oil Change service intervals depends on How you drive, where you drive and of course time..I Believe the routine in the OM states every 3000 miles...If you are using synthetic, Then 5000 to 6000 miles will not be an issue..I was going 5000 miles between oil changes.
