The vehicles to wait for are the slow moving vehicles as they will be dealing on them at the end of the year because of high inventories.
The problem with the Terrain and Nox is they have been very good sellers and most dealers will not come off price as they know someone else will pay it.
We waited 2 years to buy ours. We took advantage of a dealer that was willing to deal and the added $1000 off with the V6. Right now inventories are as hight as they have been for the Terrain but they are still not as many out there that would get GM to move much more on price.
As for getting what you want this is what you do. Go to the GMC web site and use the locate vehicle. Put in your zip and what model, color and interior you want. Then it will locate that vehicle. If there is not one within the zip use a Zip in a city 100-200 miles away. You should find what you want. Print it off.
Then find the dealer you want to deal with locally. Not all dealers are the same do shop around and go for the best deal also see if they will beat each others deal. Then once you got your price for what you want give them the vehicle you found and have them do a dealer trade. All dealers can trade to get a vehicle for a customer. my last 3 cars I bought before I saw them as I knew what I wanted and they found it after I made the deal on price.
Also might try the last week of the month. OFten if it is a slow month and if it is a vehicle that has been in inventory for a while they will deal.
Never get in a hurry. Take your time and never buy on emotion.
Shop the web. I e mailed a local dealer and told them what I wanted and asked how much. They came close to what I studied to be a good price and gave them my price I wanted to pay. He sent back I just bought an HHR SS. I got my price. A very good one I might say. I did this while I was working.
The price right now and the fact our GTP was at a point we could still get a good price out of it before we would have to do some work to it. Now was a good time to move for us used car wise and new car price.
The two best times for me to buy have been August or just at the end of winter. I have always got the best dealers. My GTP was the new 04 and I found a dealer that has one with every option at $32K. Because they were in a small town and slow they wanted it off the floor plan. We were out the door at 23,750.
The Terrain because of the way they are selling was not one of my better deals but I still managed almost 6,000 off sticker. 2 years ago I could not get them to go more than $1800.
Remember they make more everyday and you can even order one if you need some odd combo they can't find. Work the price and take your time. Know what they have in it and factor a fair profit for what the vehicle is. Most of the info is on the web if you look around.
Shop Smart.
